Wait a minute! Didn't you notice your LS1 cast crank has NO KEYWAY and the new harmonic balancer is made for a crank with a keyway. When I installed a procharger supercharger the instructions have you pin the pulley to the crank by drilling a hole from the front and pinning it so the pulley cannot rotate on the crankshaft. Shame on GM for removing the key and the keyway. It must have the capability to slip to require that modification. The position of the harmonic balancer used to be critical because of the top dead center timing mark that was used with the timing light, but the distributor is gone along with the manual ignition timing adjustment. I'm going to check mine as the added supercharger puts that pulley under greater stress.

I just got it installed on my 4th gen now I’m like 7k miles in did my oil change and I was around a lot of trees and dust it’s dirty. I was just thinking though to can access to it and clean it then wash it and oil it back up. I’ll have to remove the whole thing just like installing it. Down to the boot all the way up to the filter housing correct?
